Integration Engineer
Monta is looking for dynamic professionals, trailblazers who will be part of accelerating our reach in the SaaS realm and EV charging industry.
We usually respond within two weeks
💰 Salary
Up to 46,000 DKK gross per month, depending on your seniority level.
About Monta
At Monta, we're building the operating system for EV charging. Our platform connects charge point owners, drivers, and businesses to deliver reliable, scalable, and smart charging experiences across Europe and beyond.
As we scale to hundreds of thousands of charge points, hardware integrations become a critical reliability layer of the platform. That is where this role comes in.
We're looking for an Integration Engineer to ensure high quality, reliability and scalability of our charging network through hands-on work on our infrastructure, hardware partners and tooling.
This is a hands-on - close to hardware - engineering role, focused on integration quality, testing, debugging, and automation. You will work at the intersection of hardware, protocols, and software, but your home is firmly in engineering and operations.
You will be part of a small, highly specialized team (2 other integration engineers) within the CPO Solutions Ops team, working closely with Engineering, Network Operations, Energy, and external hardware manufacturers.
Our values - Build Together & Finish, Sweat the Details, Customer First, and Aiming for the Moon - guide how we work and how we hold ourselves accountable.
What You’ll Do
Own the quality of charge point integrations
You are responsible for taking charging station models from first lab setup to stable production operation. This includes:
Setting up and configuring new charge point models in our lab environment
Validating OCPP behaviour, firmware versions, and edge cases
Defining what "integration ready" means and enforcing it through tests and checklists
Success means: new hardware models behave predictably, meet Monta's quality bar, and do not cause incidents in production.
Design and improve integration testing
You will continuously improve how we test and validate integrations by:
Extending and automating integration and firmware test suites
Codifying hardware quirks, limitations, and best practices into tests, validators, and playbooks
Working with Engineering to improve internal tooling and workflows
Success means: less manual work, faster integrations, and fewer regressions.
Debug complex real-world issues
When things break, you follow the problem all the way to root cause:
Investigating issues raised by customers, partners, or internal teams
Using logs, dashboards, and internal tools to understand what actually happened
Distinguishing firmware issues from Monta-side issues and routing them with strong evidence
Success means: clear, actionable findings that lead to real fixes - internally or with manufacturers.
Work closely with customers and partners
This role includes direct technical interaction with charging station manufacturers and, at times, key customers:
Providing structured, technical feedback with reproducible findings
Clarifying capabilities, limitations, and expected behaviour
Acting as a trusted technical counterpart during integrations and escalations
Success means: manufacturers understand our expectations and requirements and can act on our feedback effectively.
Make us more proactive
You help Monta move from reactive firefighting to proactive quality engineering by:
Spotting recurring patterns in incidents and test failures
Using data to identify underlying issues early
Proposing improvements to monitoring, test coverage, and quality gates
Success means: fewer customer-visible issues and earlier detection of problems.
Tools and Systems You'll Work With
You will collaborate closely with Engineering on tools such as:
OCPP Toolkit
Hardware Portal
Monta Control
Internal test, control, and automation tools
This can include defining requirements, shaping workflows, contributing to automation, or implementing smaller features independently.
What We’re Looking For
We imagine you are a hands-on engineer who enjoys debugging complex systems that span hardware and software. You likely have:
Experience in the EV charging domain, ideally with OCPP and real-world charge point integrations
A solid understanding of EV charging flows, firmware behaviour, and protocol quirks
Basic networking knowledge (IP, ports, VPNs, certificates, firewalls)
Programming or scripting experience (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Bash, or similar)
Comfort working safely hands-on with hardware in a lab environment
A structured approach to documenting findings and sharing knowledge
You enjoy following problems from symptom to root cause and care deeply about reliability and quality.
Comfortable with AI-powered tools to accelerate your work (Copilot, Notion AI, ChatGPT, etc.), with the willingness to learn more.
If the mission excites you but your experience isn't a perfect 1:1 match, apply anyway — we care about potential, not perfection.
Nice to Have
Experience with logs, dashboards, or data tools (SQL, Grafana, Kibana, BigQuery, spreadsheets)
Background in electrical or power systems engineering
Experience in customer-facing technical roles (support, operations, field engineering)
Type B driver's license for field testing with company vehicles
If the mission excites you but your experience isn’t a perfect 1:1 match, apply anyway — we care about potential, not perfection.
What You Can Grow Into
This role builds a rare skill set across hardware, protocols, and platform engineering. Over time, this can grow into:
Technical ownership of complex charging features (e.g. Plug&Charge, California Pricing, UK SCR)
A more engineering-heavy path in test automation, internal tools, or backend development
A senior specialist role shaping how Monta integrates and certifies new hardware partners
AI Competency
You'll be expected to work with AI-powered tools. Some we use:
GitHub Copilot / Claude Code
ChatGPT / Gemini / Claude
Notion AI (docs, knowledge, meeting notes)
Analytics & ML: Langfuse, PyTorch, Mastra
AI-enhanced testing & monitoring (e.g., generative QA, Grafana ML)
We don't expect mastery of all — but we expect comfort learning, experimenting, and adopting AI responsibly.
Why Monta
Impact, not easy mode — your work matters, and you’ll feel it every day.
Ownership from day one — we don’t micromanage, we expect you to deliver.
The grind is real — priorities shift, and flexibility is sometimes needed to get things across the finish line. But so are the rewards: impact, growth, and a team that has your back.
The people are extraordinary — talented, driven, and fun to work with. You’ll be challenged, supported, and inspired in equal measure
What We Offer
A yearly education budget and extra days off to use it.
A friendly and social company culture with movie nights, Friday bars, pub crawls, and more.
Free lunch every day.
Pension & health coverage to keep you secure for today and tomorrow.
Paid parental leave to support life’s big moments.
Warrants program - be part of our growth story.
Flexible working hours; as long as you’re at key meetings and delivering great work, we trust you to manage your schedule.
A one month electric vehicle introduction program (plus access to a shared company EV).
Please send us your application in English.
To succeed in this position, your spoken and written English skills need to be proficient. Since Monta is a globally active company, you’ll be communicating often and regularly with our co-workers and partners around the world, making your professional English knowledge essential.
